Mac Excel Keyboard Shortcuts

File this under the “so I remember it later” department.  Tonight I was working on a large financial model and banging my head against the fact that all my old Excel keyboard shortcuts don’t work on the Mac.  So I dug around and pulled together the list of ones that I commonly use:

MAC EXCEL 2016

Define a name: Ctrl + L

Enter edit mode on a cell: Ctrl + U

Toggle cell anchoring: Command + T

Format as percentage: Ctrl + Shift + % (% = 5)
Format as number with commas: Ctrl + Shift + ! (! = 1)

Add an outline border around a cell: Command + Option + 0
Add a border at top: Command + Option + up arrow
Add a border at bottom: Command + Option + down arrow
Remove outline borders: Command + Option + hyphen

Select entire column: Ctrl + spacebar
Select entire row: Shift + spacebar

Insert a row: Ctrl + spacebar, then Ctrl + Shift + =
Insert a row: Shift + spacebar, then Ctrl + hyphen or Command + hyphen

Delete a row: Ctrl + spacebar, then Ctrl + hyphen
Delete a row: Shift + spacebar, then Ctrl + hyphen

Fill down: Ctrl + D or Command + D
Fill right: Ctrl + R or Command + D

Switch between open workbooks: Ctrl – tab

Paste Special: Command + Command + V or Control + Option + V

Increase font size: Command + Shift + >
Decrease font size: Command + Shift + <

Next worksheet: Ctrl + pagedown
Previous worksheet: Ctrl + pageup

Auto-sum: Command + Shift + T

Goto / insert name / find special: Control + G or F5
